You can start on waste tomorrow. To report your waste according to the CSRD Directive, you need reliable figures from us on CO2 emissions per waste stream. This refers to the actual CO2 emissions released when collecting and processing waste. Renewi therefore commissioned TNO – an independent research organisation – to calculate the CO2 emissions of the 30 most common waste streams. This ensures objectively substantiated and scientifically validated CO2 data, specifically tailored to our activities and supply chain partners. Renewi EcoSmart has long been reporting recycling rates by waste stream, looking at the destination of waste once it leaves the organisation. However, this is not sufficient for ESRS E5 (Material use and circular economy). To ensure the new calculations are carried out transparently and objectively, we are working in partnership with Royal Haskoning DHV. They analyse how circular a commodity is across the chain. These new insights are incorporated into our customer reporting, giving you even better insight into the impact of your waste management.
