Who we are
and what we do
Renewi E-Waste, formerly known as Coolrec, is a key player in Europe’s circular economy. We specialise in the processing of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), transforming discarded appliances into high-quality circular materials such as plastics, gasses, ferrous, and non-ferrous metals.With advanced treatment plants in the Netherlands, Belgium, and France, we help industrial and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) reduce their environmental footprint by closing the loop on valuable materials.

- In the Netherlands, we operate fully as part of Renewi. Our Dordrecht site is one of the world’s largest fridge recycling plants, with a capacity of 50,000 tonnes. We recycle both household and professional cooling appliances, including complex units containing substances like ammonia. While most materials come from the Dutch market, we also process internationally collected appliances that need specialized treatment beyond standard recycling methods.
- In Waalwijk, Renewi E-waste Plastics operates Europe’s largest plastic recycling facility for WEEE-derived materials. With four advanced production lines, we transform around 50 million kilograms of discarded plastics annually into high-quality circular materials.
- In Belgium, we have a strategic partnership with Recydel SA, where Intradel SCRL and Spaque SA each hold a 10% share. Our Recydel facility in Wandre, strategically located near major European transport routes, processes up to 65,000 tonnes of cooling appliances, small/large household appliances, and IT equipment annually, with waste streams sourced from Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and Germany.
- In France, we collaborate with Vitamine T SAS, which also holds a 10% stake. Renewi E-waste France in Lesquin processes up to 22,000 tonnes of appliances and electronics annually, including 15,000 tonnes of cooling appliances and 7,000 tonnes of small and large household appliances, plus IT equipment. The site also offers semi-automated boiler recycling with its own innovative systems. All waste streams come from across France.
