Veilige verwerking van lachgascilinders
Vanaf begin 2023 valt lachgas onder de Opiumwet, wat betekent dat er in Nederland een lachgasverbod van kracht is. Met de invoering van dit verbod is een regeling komen te vervallen waarbij lege cilinders werden ingeleverd bij de leveranciers in ruil voor de betaalde borgsom. Helaas heeft dit geleid tot een ongewenste situatie waarin gebruikers de cilinders nu in de openbare ruimte of bij het reguliere afval achterlaten.
Campaign launched to encourage the safe disposal of baa-tteries
A battery recycling campaign with a difference has been launched in Cumbria to encourage more battery recycling, with a sheep as its mascot. A staggering 3.2 million batteries are discarded in the county’s waste each year, which is equal to the weight of over 3650 Herdwick sheep!
Renewi welcomes Bruno Bruins as Chief Strategy Officer

Renewi ensures more and better recycling: new state-of-the-art plastic sorting plant
Eindhoven, 4 March 2024 - Waste-to-product company Renewi today opened a new sorting plant for hard plastics in Acht, municipality of Eindhoven. The state-of-the-art sorting plant is expected to sort, grind and wash 24,000 tonnes of hard plastics annually. Thanks to the advanced technologies applied, Renewi can process even more hard plastics into new raw materials and with a higher quality. A purity of at least 95% for PP (“polypropylene”) and PE (“polyethene”) has now been achieved.
Queen Máxima's Working Visit to Leading Waste-to-Product Company Renewi
Her Majesty Queen Máxima paid a working visit today to the waste-to-product company Renewi at its facility in Acht, Eindhoven. The visit focused on the opportunities and challenges in material recycling, such as legislation that encourages recycling and the importance of raising awareness about circularity in society. Currently, the Queen is making a number of visits relating to sustainability and circularity.
